Market reaction to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's announcement of a new tax on income trusts was swift and heavy Wednesday as the S&P/TSX Composite Index fell sharply. The index finished with a loss of 294.20 points, or more than two per cent, to end the day at 12,050.39.
